Significant Data Model Change and New Technical Email List

Important Data Model Change:

ZFIN is in the process of changing our data model to remove sequence targeting reagents (Morpholinos, TALENs, and CRISPRs) from the experimental environment.  This will allow us to treat sequence-targeting reagents more like mutations by grouping them with mutations. As a result, there will be a new data object in ZFIN called a FISH, each of which will have a unique ZDB-FISH-########-#### ID.  A FISH in the ZFIN database is comprised of a genotype and may optionally include one or more sequence targeting reagents. Where our expression and phenotype data are currently annotated to a genotype plus an experimental condition, these data will now be annotated to a FISH record plus an experimental condition.

This change will be reflected in the downloads files and across the ZFIN interface as early as the first week of September, 2015.  Please see attached screen shot for a preview of the data identifier change.

New Technical Listserv:

All users of our data are encouraged to subscribe to our technical email list (zfin-dev-announce), where we will distribute information about data model changes, service outages, etc. related to ZFIN services, data, and database in the future.

Please subscribe to the zfin-dev-announce list here:
