Position Description


An assistant research technologist is needed to support a multi-user zebrafish aquaculture facility in the SickKids new Peter Gilgan Center for Research and Learning.

Here’s What You’ll Get To:

The successful applicant will be responsible for daily operations of this new facility, under the guidance of an experienced Research Technologist. Responsibilities include maintenance of the system, feeding of the fish, monitoring fish health, and propagating zebrafish lines by breeding and raising fish to adulthood. This is a full time position, and the applicant will be required to work weekends.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Applicants should have postsecondary education in the Life Sciences (e.g. B.Sc, certification as a Registered Technologist).  Experience with animal husbandry is desirable.  Experience with aquaculture is preferable but not required. Organizational skills, communication skills, computer proficiency, self-motivation and commitment are required. Plumbing and electrical experience/proficiency would be an asset.

Employment Type: Temporary, Full-time (1 year contract)
