Postdoctoral Position – In Vivo Cell Lineage Reprogramming and Disease – Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SBP),  La Jolla, California

The Dong Laboratory (lab website) is primarily focused on basic/biomedical research on cell lineage regulation in development, homeostasis, regeneration, induced transdifferentiation, and diseases using the zebrafish vertebrate model system and mouse/human cells. We have developed a novel in vivo discovery platform for induced conversion of cell identity, which has allowed us to transdifferentiate cells across germ layers, without removal from their natural microenvironment and without passage through a pluripotent intermediate. We seek scientists to continue to push the boundaries of in vivo lineage reprogramming and determine the mechanisms driving this process.

Qualified applicants are rigorous, productive, full of curiosity, problem solvers, open-minded, have effective communication skills, and works well with others. Available projects range from basic developmental mechanisms to modeling genetic diseases.

Postdoctoral candidates should have a Ph.D. or an M.D. with a solid background in molecular biology, development and genetics, or cell biology/biochemistry and at least one senior author publication. Bioinformatics experience is a plus. Submit CV, research statement, and reference information to: ducdong@sbp.edu
