LABORATORY RESEARCH ANALYST I - Duke University Center for Human Disease Modeling

Occupational Summary: 

The Duke University Center for Human Disease Modeling is seeking a laboratory analyst to become member of our research team. This work will involve performing a variety of technical scientific duties in a dynamic atmosphere. 

Responsibilities: 

1. Perform technical duties conducted routinely in a human genetics and functional modeling laboratory such as molecular cloning, DNA and RNA extraction, DNA sequencing, gene expression studies, tissue culture, microscopy or biochemical assays. 

 

2. Work with research animals including zebrafish embryo manipulation, immunostaining and microscopy, and maintenance of adult zebrafish stocks. 

 

3. Perform data analysis and interpretation as well as document procedures and collect data in an organized, complete, and ethical fashion. Analyze, interpret, and summarize experimental results. 

 

4. Assist faculty, post-docs and students in the development and execution of new research procedures and techniques. 

 

5. Lead independent research projects and eventually train newly hired staff members or visiting students on laboratory technique. 

 

Required qualifications: 

Education/Training Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in biology, zoology, biochemistry or 

other science related field. 

Experience Two years of relevant laboratory experience required and work with aquatic animals strongly preferred.
