Postdoctoral positions - Modeling vascular development and disease in the zebrafish - University of Massachusetts Medical School

Postdoctoral positions are available  The Lawson Lab is located in the newly formed Department of Molecular, Cell, and Cancer Biology where postdocs benefit from a modern open lab space with highly interactive colleagues, extensive bioinformatics support, an experienced full-time aquatics staff, and access to cutting-edge imaging and gene editing technology.

Current efforts focus on 1. Development of zebrafish models of congenital vascular disease and their use in small molecule screens for therapeutic leads, 2. Identifying developmental determinants of blood vessel identity, 3. Molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis and lymphatic development, and 4. Early specification of periendothelial cells.   To functionally interrogate these areas of interest, we rely on largely on reverse genetic approaches using programmable nucleases (e.g. CRISPR and TALENs).  In addition, we apply standard approaches using the zebrafish as a model, including high content and time-lapse imaging by 2-photon microscopy, lineage tracing using Cre/lox, mosaic analysis, transgenesis, and small molecule screening.

Applicants must be highly motivated and technically accomplished as documented by exceptional publication record and hold a PhD in a related area of study.  Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in standard and advanced molecular biology approaches, as well as experience with model organisms (e.g. fly, mouse, worm, zebrafish).

Please send or email CV and reprints of relevant publications to the contact information below.  Applicants accepted for initial consideration will be subsequently contacted for letters of reference.
