The lab:

The Torres-Vázquez lab studies the development of the vasculature using zebrafish and cultured endothelial cells as complementary model systems. Our lab is one of two zebrafish labs embedded in the very interactive environment of the Department of Developmental Genetics at the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine (http://skirball.med.nyu.edu/).

Responsibilities:

Conducting a research project together with postdocs and the principal investigator using these techniques:

- Microinjections to make transgenic animals and mutants via genome editing

- Genotyping

- Phenotypic analysis of embryos (morphology, RNA in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence)

- Molecular biology (classical cloning, Gibson cloning, protein expression, BAC recombineering)

- Cell culture and biochemistry experiments

- Confocal microscopy

- Active participation in lab meetings and journal clubs

Required qualifications:

We are looking for a self-motivated, curiosity-driven person with strong enthusiasm for science, discussions and running experiments at the bench. Both having a strong sense of personal responsibility and enjoying working with others is essential.
