Professor - Warwick Medical School and Monash University joint professorship

Professor, Warwick Medical School and Monash University joint professorship, Closing date for applications:  Oct 5, 2015

The University of Warwick and Monash University are seeking to recruit a Professor of Biomedicine. We are looking for an outstanding scientist who uses imaging techniques to pursue internationally leading research in the structural and functional analysis of molecular machines. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, DNA replication, cell division, cell signalling, cell motility, development, infection and immunity. There will be opportunities to forge collaborations between the two institutions, and individuals who can complement on-going research at Warwick or Monash are especially encouraged to apply.

This will be a joint appointment between the two institutions. You will be based primarily at Warwick Medical School but are expected to spend a significant amount of time at Monash, to direct substantial research efforts in both institutions and to contribute to teaching and leadership. Resources will be available to facilitate this international program, including personnel, travel and other budgets.

Warwick Medical School has excellent infrastructure for biomedical cell biology research, and has recently built a new zebrafish facility. The new appointment will be located in the Mechanochemical Cell Biology Building at Warwick, a purpose-built facility that supports bench research alongside an outstanding light microscopy facility. Monash has outstanding facilities to support research in advanced imaging, with significant recent investment in cryo-electron microscopy, including the Clive and Vera Ramaciotti Centre for Structural Cryo-EM.

You will be appointed on two fractional contracts with the University of Warwick (0.8 FTE) and Monash University (0.2 FTE) for five years, thereafter your contract may be extended for a further period or you will ordinarily revert to a substantive, continuing professorial post (1.0 FTE) in the Division of Biomedical Cell Biology, Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick.
