Tenure-track faculty position in neural basis of behaviour, McGill University

 

The Department of Biology at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the neural basis of behavior at the assistant professor level, although applications at the rank of associate or full Professor will also be considered. We are seeking an energetic, interactive individual whose research will complement the Department’s recognized strengths in neuroethology, systems and behavioral neuroscience, developmental genetics, cell biology, biophysics, and ecology and evolution. The ideal applicant will employ advanced techniques to monitor/manipulate neural activity and study its effects on animal behavior. The successful candidate will have convenient access to state-of-the-art imaging facilities and other major core services as a member of the McGill Life Sciences Complex. The Department of Biology is one of several units at McGill University with strong interests in neuroscience including the Departments of Psychology and Physiology, the McGill Centre for Research in Neuroscience, and the Montreal Neurological Institute, providing a unique, stimulating environment that is highly conducive to collaboration. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Neuroscience or other relevant discipline, postdoctoral experience, and a significant track record of research excellence. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct a vigorous program of independent, externally funded research and to contribute to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Competitive startup and equipment funding packages are available.
