Zebrafish Aquaculture Technician - Yale University

The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to perform, or be willing to learn, the following tasks in a zebrafish aquaculture facility:

1. Zebrafish care and maintenance duties include providing daily fish feedings, checking fish health daily, transferring embryos and providing care to nursery racks.

2. Facility maintenance duties include recording daily water parameters and reviewing for abnormal readings, changing system filters, cleaning, maintenance, resolving any problems in facility operation, supporting facility sanitation protocols, and assisting in writing and maintaining compliance with IACUC protocols.


Required Qualifications:

·         Education/Training: Bachelors or Masters degree in Biology, Fisheries Science, or Aquaculture and relevant research experience in the field.

·         Experience: Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required. US Citizenship is preferred but not required. Individuals with zebrafish or aquaculture experience will be given priority, and candidates with relevant experience in other animal models are also encouraged to apply.

The fish facility is part of the Yale Cardiovascular Research Center, two major zebrafish groups have access to the fish facility Suk-Won Jin’s and Stefania Nicoli’s laboratories. Several collaboration between non-fish user are also in place therefore individual interested in this position must be able to work in team and have excellent management and communication skills.
