Postdoctoral position - University of California, San Francisco

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Su Guo at the University of California, San Francisco, Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences, to study asymmetric cell division (ACD) of vertebrate neural stem cells.   This project focuses on addressing two fundamental questions in ACD: 1) the functional significance of asymmetry; 2) How does asymmetry arise?  We employ cutting-edge technologies in imaging, stem cells, biochemistry/molecular biology, and use zebrafish and human pluripotent stem cells as model systems (e.g. See Dong et al. . Neuron 74: 65 (2012); Sun et al.  Elife 2: e00508 (2013)).  The successful applicant should have a recent PhD or PhD/MD degree in cell biology, biochemistry, neurobiology, or other fields alike, and high quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.  A strong interest in the above described project, as well as excellent technical and communication skills are also prerequisites for application.  If you meet these qualifications, then please send your CV, a brief research statement, together with the contact info of three referees, to: su.guo@ucsf.edu
