Lab Instructor in Neuroscience - Smith College

The Neuroscience Program at Smith College invites applications for a lab instructor position, to begin August 15, 2015. This is a one-year, half-time, benefits-eligible course support position. We seek a candidate with either a graduate degree in neuroscience or a related field, or equivalent experience. The successful candidate will have strong teaching skills, facility with experimental design, and should be eager to engage in teaching undergraduate students.

Teaching responsibilities will include teaching laboratories in the Experimental Methods in Neuroscience course focused on behavioral neuroscience, as well as in advanced courses on molecular neuroscience (fall) and neuroendocrinology (spring). Our courses include an inquiry-based approach that seeks to involve students in hands-on, student-initiated research. Supervision of student research projects will require flexibility in scheduling at times. The ideal candidate will have experience with use of mice and zebrafish, or in working with other model organisms.
