Research Assistant - University of Oregon

The University of Oregon invites applications for the position of Research Assistant within the Institute of Molecular Biology.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:

• Bachelors in Biology or related field. • Experience with molecular biology and/or microbiology techniques

• Criminal background check required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with zebrafish husbandry

• Experience with generating transgenic zebrafish

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: This position requires a highly-motivated person with excellent organizational, laboratory and communication skills. The successful candidate will participate in a variety of types of experiments on their own and will work in collaboration with other lab members. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform a variety of molecular biology techniques including designing and cloning constructs for zebrafish transgenesis.

• Perform zebrafish husbandry tasks, including crossing, screening, and genotyping by PCR and by fluorescence microscopy.

• Generate germ free zebrafish embryos.

• Perform routine lab tasks such as making solutions and ordering reagents.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
