Independent Senior Research Fellows in Quantitative Biomedicine - University of Warwick

Dear colleagues,

The University of Warwick, with support from the Wellcome Trust, have established a programme in Quantitative Biomedicine. We are particularly interested in researchers who use quantitative approaches to biological questions, and can bridge Physical / mathematical Sciences and Biomedicine.

This is an excellent opportunity for young researchers (within 4 years of PhD) to establish an independent research programme in the University of Warwick, which has excellent strengths in Cell and Systems Biology, is well set up for advanced light microscopy and have recently added a state of the art zebrafish facility.

Please forward this mail to colleagues who you think might fit this programme.Informal enquiries can be addressed to me personally: K.Sampath@warwick.ac.uk

Regards,
Karuna

International Open Competition for Wellcome-Trust Funded Independent Senior Research Fellows in Quantitative Biomedicine

The University of Warwick has initiated a Wellcome-Trust funded research programme in “Quantitative Biomedicine” to bridge physical / mathematical sciences and biomedicine. The programme is of a cross-campus nature with strong participation from the Division of Biomedical Cell Biology and the Warwick Systems Biology Centre

We are seeking early career researchers (no more than 4 years from obtaining a Doctoral degree) with the potential to lead a strong independent research programme. The candidates will be selected based on the strength of the research proposal and on their track record in innovative research. The proposed research programme should bring together physical and mathematical sciences (including but not restricted to computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, chemistry, and engineering) and biomedical sciences (including, but not restricted to cell and developmental biology, neurobiology, immunology, microbiology and infection and immunit).

Identified candidates will be provided salary, laboratory space, running costs and part-time technical support for three years, following which the successful candidates are expected to obtain externally funded fellowships, and will be mentored in preparing such applications.

Interested candidates should submit their CV, a two-page research proposal, and the names and addresses of three referees who are able to comment on the candidates research as well as the readiness of the candidate to embark on an independent research career. Informal enquiries through e-mail may be directed to Professor Mohan Balasubramanian (Scientific Lead for the Warwick Quantitative Biomedicine Programme) E-mail: m.k.balasubramanian@warwick.ac.uk
