Postdoctoral Position - University of Chicago

A Postdoctoral Scholar research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jill de Jong in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology-Oncology in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago. Dr. de Jong’s research focuses on genes that regulate hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and how those genes can promote the development of leukemia. The laboratory uses transgenic zebrafish models of cancer and hematopoietic transplantation, molecular biology methods, chemical genetic and traditional genetic approaches, and bioinformatics to discover and evaluate new mechanisms that regulate HSC function and leukemogenesis. We seek a creative, self-motivated, intelligent, enthusiastic and hard-working applicant to study the role of histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) in leukemia. Further information about the lab can be found at: http://kidscancer.uchicago.edu/page/jill-de-jong-md-phd

Candidates should have a recent PhD in Genetics, Cellular and Molecular Biology or a related discipline, as well as excellent molecular biology skills, and a strong interest in cancer biology. Previous experience with the zebrafish and imaging techniques is preferred but not required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are critical. Salary will follow NIH guidelines commensurate with training and experience. Competitive applicants will have a proven track record of publications and independent funding.

To apply, please send your CV, contact information for three references, and a cover letter summarizing your past research accomplishments and future career aspirations (one page limit) to:
