Work in the lab is centered on understanding how neural circuits in the brain transfrom environmental stimuli into appropriate behavioral outputs.
 
Position Description:
Position is part of a research team focused on understanding how neural circuits sense and process information to generate behaviors. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), incumbent executes experiments which have been broadly outlined by PI. Handles all aspects of Zebra fish colony management including all aspects of D. rerio care and husbandry including feeding, breeding and embryo care. Responsible for databases to organize, record, and maintain strains, plasmids, and other critical research materials. Performs standard molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, DNA and RNA purification, etc.. May perform genetic techniques including strain crosses, transgenic strains, screening, genotyping, etc., calcium imaging and physiology, protein preparation, quantification, Western blots, and analysis from worm strains. Responsible for preparing and testing competent cells, maintaining buffers, reagents, and lab stocks.
 
Education:
A bachelor's degree in biological sciences or related field is required.
 
Experience:
2-5 years of experience with Zebrafish or equivalent lab related experience.
Demonstrated experience and application of molecular biology knowledge, preferably in biochemistry and cell culture.
Demonstrated experience with general lab maintenance, including cleaning, stocking supply inventory, and ensuring the maintenance of a sterile environment.
Special Requirements:
Able to occasionally work a flexible schedule based on workload and deadlines. Must be willing to submit to a personal background check.
 
Physical Requirements:
Position requires constant seeing, reasoning, analyzing, working inside, and being exposed to animals.
