Postdoctoral position - The Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI), Vienna, Austria

Postdoctoral position

The Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI) of the St. Anna Kinderkrebsforschung Association is a renowned multidisciplinary research institution with tight links to the spin-off company Labdia Labordiagnostik GmbH and the St. Anna Children's Hospital, a leading pediatric cancer center. The paramount aim of the CCRI is to improve treatment outcome of malignant diseases in children and adolescents by performing basic, translational and clinical research. Moreover, the development of novel diagnostic approaches and treatment concepts is a major focus of the CCRI and Labdia. Our comprehensive cancer center entertains close collaborations with many other research and clinical institutions worldwide.

A postdoctoral position is available in the newly established zebrafish research group at the CCRI.
We use zebrafish models to better understand the onset and progression of pediatric malignancies such as leukemia. Applying a combination of cutting edge genetic tools and state of the art confocal microscopy we investigate transformed cells directly within the living organisms. We also aim to use zebrafish models of pediatric cancer for drug screens to identify small molecules, which might ultimately be used to treat pediatric cancers.

We are looking for an individual holding a PhD or MD, who is enthusiastic about pursuing pediatric cancer research in zebrafish. Experience in the field of cancer research is desired. Prior zebrafish research experience is beneficial but not required. The candidate should have at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Planned entry of the successful candidate will be late spring of 2014. The salary will be competitive and in line with standards of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) http://www.fwf.ac.at/de/projects/personalkostensaetze.html.

Highly motivated candidates should send a cover letter summarizing their research experiences and future goals, CV with photo and 3 letters of recommendation to personal@ccri.at .
